A beautiful item for collectors – 19th century Emisferi di Magdeburgo – Magdeburg’s hemisphere experiment was conducted by Otto von Grica, Mayor of Magdeburg, in 1654, and came to illustrate the power of air pressure. Otto von Grica was a German scientist, inventor and politician. In 1650 he invented the vacuum pump. His pump was built of a metal cylinder, a piston and two valves – 25 cm high
